Jess has gone back to her hometown to Temora for a few days, so I'm all by myself down here until the weekend.
Anyway, after 4 years of working in large store retail supermarkets, I will be making a transition to working with a new company. Or maybe two. Who knows? I do. Well, I will when the appropriate paperwork comes through. My point is I WILL NEVER WORK IN A SUPERMARKET AGAIN. THANK GOD FOR THAT. I will say WHO I am working for in the coming week or so.
After 4 years of working in this type of environment, I have drawn the following conclusions:
- The collective IQ of the entire general public of Australia is about 63.2 - Regardless of how much you bitch, the manager is always right. - Checkout chicks are greater than you. They decide whether your groceries live or die on the trip home. - Stacking shelves is not rocket science. - EFTPOS may seem like the popular option, but most people prefer to pay in warm, silky soft cash. - No, you can't have a discount card. - AWA all the way, yeah? - The price you saw on the shelf was wrong. - If the person at the checkout is looking at you funny it is probably because they are wondering how you were able to find the nipple as an infant - When the person at the checkout asks 'How are you?' and you want to improve their day, respond: 'Incredibly horny thanks, and how are you?' (Yes, I have had that response before). - Yes, the person in the Deli probably did spit in your olives. - This never, ever, happens:

I finish up in Supermarket retail on Wednesday next week. After that day it can kiss my well-rounded and slim behind. |

So there is this yearly snooker tournament called Dawborn held here in Burgmann. I made it to the quarter finals, and was beaten by the treasurer of the resident's association by about 13 points. Apparently I don't suck that much at all. :-P
In other news: - I am currently in training to be a representative for Mercy Ships. Click the link to read more about them. Basically I am to go around and speak at churches and businesses to try and get sponsorships and recruits for the ships. - Jess & I have just celebrated 5 months together.
What is it about motivation and enthusiasm?
It's here one minute and gone the next. I have no idea what brings it, and I have no idea what makes it go. I am enthusiastic about going overseas and doing development things. I am highly apathetic about what I have to do to get there. I am enthisiastic about doing things, but not about learning the things that will get me to do things. I am unenthusiastic about learning languages within university, but enthusiastic about doing so outside of university. I am enthusiastic about working for decent money in these areas, but not enthusiastic about working for Supabarn in the meantime. I am enthusiastic about doing volunteer work, but not about finding it.
Why?
Is the difference to do with enjoyment? Are we enthusiastic about the things we enjoy? I used to think so, but now tend to disagree. I would be going insane without the intellectual stimulation of uni, but in the same breath, I am going insane for not being able to do much with it right now. Yet, it seems the Brisbane Broncos were dealing with the same problem. Unlike the Broncos, however, I don't have access to a sports psychologist, nor facilities and coaches to keep me motivated. I have taken time off, to no avail.
I think the issue is now to do with release, and the need to unwind. Do we keep ourselves motivated by releasing our pent-up energy? Do we keep ourselves motivated by unwinding? In part, I think yes. But there is another element to it. An unknown and unseen element. We need to enjoy where we are on our way to where we're going. But when there is very little enjoyment around us, and we constantly expect less and less, and eventually we stop expecting having enjoyment. Is that my problem? I think not, because I know of others in similar situations who enjoy themselves on a continual basis.
If anyone has an answer, then please let me know. |

| | Showbread, The Showdown | ] | Well, I am typing this out on my new Dell Inspiron 1300. A sleek, black and nearly outdated laptop I have called The Shadow.
Voyager lives, but it is only a shadow of it's former self (pun intentional) with nearly all software I had installed on it now being on The Shadow.
So, a brief update of things:
1. Jess - Things with Jess are absolutely incredible. She's coming up to Forster with me for a week so she can see what went right (or wrong as some would argue). WE WILL BE IN NEWCASTLE ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 10. If you want to meet up, then please get in touch with me via the usual methods.
2. Uni - I have been nominated for Asian Studies Faculty Rep on the Students Association, and there are only 2 days of polling left. There are two positions, and three people running for it. It'd really suck to be the person who misses out. Hopefully it's not me. I've also come across an incredible lack of motivation for anything to do with Uni work as well. The last thing I feel like doing right now is hauling myself to lectures, or even doing an assignment. Methinks the holiday will serve me well.
3. Unleashed - Pretty quiet at the moment while I focus on Uni. Do have a few things in the pipeline though.
I have drawn a total blank on everything else I wanted to post, so I will do it sooner as opposed to later. |

| | Muse, Jimmy Needham, Shawn McDonald | ] | Well, finally I have updated. The reason for lack of updates is lack of a computer.
The laptop known as Voyager will probably voyage no more beyond this year. It's having major problems with the CD drive, and has spent the last 2 weeks being repaired.
So, what's been going on?
Well
Things with Jess are going extremely well. The big news is that we are planning to head to Forster for the first week of September holidays. With a stopover in Newcastle on September 10 on our way back.

So, I got my ear and eyebrow pierced on Monday. The ear didn't hurt at all going through, but the eyebrow caned heaps. Currently, the eyebrow is pretty swollen (which apparently is normal), but the ear is coming along very nicely.
Here is a picture for you all to enjoy:

Jess had her top lip done as well, which I reckon looks freaking awesome on her. There really is very little going on at the moment outside of Uni work. I'm currently preparing for a mammoth essay due in in about 6 weeks time., but I also have a 4,000 word effort due in late November which I'll need to get started on soon as well.
Final question for you all:
Should I relocate this blog to Myspace? You have until my next post to respond. |

| | None | ] | The following is the best man's speech I gave at Nick's wedding. This is not word-for-word, but it is the rough script I took in with me.
--
If I were to liken today to anything, I would probably liken it to a grand final. We have been building up to this for nearly a whole year now, and everything has come down to this, and what happens afterwards. There are three things that don't fit with this analogy though. Unlike most grand finals, we don't turn around and do this again next year, we haven't had the process of elimination, and there are no losers today, only winners. And I'd be barracking for the Broncos.
Now, some of you may not know me. Nick found me on the internet, and it no, it wasn't through a dating website. It was through a website I have a role in. That's right, now on the internet you can hire me as the best man for your next wedding. I charge around $500 per wedding, plus travel expenses. Speeches are an extra $50, and I accept no responsibilities for the wedding rings. ESPECIALLY if you leave it in Chincilla.
Seriously, though. Nick didn't hire me from some sleazy best man website. About 5 years ago, a mutual friend who neither of us are still in contact with, introduced us online, and I am here today. And should the wedding ring have not arrived I did happen to get a spare this morning. You see Rachel, you thought I was joking when I suggested the coke can ring earlier, and when I mentioned I had my toolkit with me. I wasn't. Produce lid. You can thank me later.
I suppose it would be proper of me to say something of the groom on an occasion such as this. I have long regarded Nick as one of my closest friends, and I know he has regarded me in the same vein. Despite the fact that our attempts to gaffa tape him naked to a set of traffic lights near Grand Central failed miserably.
Today is a celebration. A celebration for two people who have fallen madly, deeply in love with each other. A celebration for two people to come together to essentially share a life together, a life which, with God's blessing and God's assistance, was meant to be, is meant to be, and will be shared in love.
Some of the more superstitious ancient Greeks believed this phenomenon was due to the days before mankind had legs. Humans were essentially wheels, with two people, when they wanted to move around, one would push one way, and they would roll around. One day, Zeus decided that this wasn't exactly pretty, so he sent down lightning to strike all these beings. Those who were split in half formed legs, and they were able to find the one to which they were once joined, and when you fall in love, it means you have found the person to once you were joined. Others weren't so lucky, in that they were struck many times, and were broken into little pieces. The women who has their legs ate those who were broken up into pieces, and so babies occur because the little pieces begin to grow inside, and thus babies come about.
Now, while I totally disagree with the superstitious Greeks, I think they have a point in that the people will join together with who they are meant to be with. Love is such a thing where once you are in love, the longing to be joined with that person for life is so great, we see it manifested in an event such as today. Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like you to charge your glasses, as I am about to propose a toast.
I have already said something about the groom. But what of the person he will be joining with? Rachel, you have been Nick's shining light and inspiration throughout the past few years. Today you become joined with him, to share a life together, and I could not be happier for the both of you, because I know both of you could not be happier with each other. I hope and pray that the love you hold for each other and for God will not only continue the way it is, but will grow and continue to grow for the remainder of eternity.
I would like to propose a toast, to love, and the way we see it manifested today in the union of Nick and Rachel, who will go from today, and share a life, and a love together. |

| | None. | ] | So I started cutting yesterday. First the hair, and then the beard. Now the long locks of Bajar are no more, and the beard is nothing except a few very short hairs around my mouth. Next I'll run a bleaching substance through my hair, have it professionally styled, and then have two pieces of metal shoved through my body. First one in my ear, second one in my eyebrow. Photos will ensue once the procedure has been completed.

So, I know you all have two questions: #1. Why the lack of updates? #2. What's been happening, yo?
My responses as follows: #1. Why the lack of updates?
Well, life happened. Exams came around, and then left, and then Jess & I just bludged for 8 days until we were kicked out of Burgmann. So, I had nothing to report. No songs to post, no news to report, absolutely nothing. Now I am in Forster, using dial-up, and re-acquainting myself with Mr. GameCube.
#2. What's been happening, yo?
The biggest event of the past few weeks was definitley Nick's wedding. Us men looked very hot, and somehow or other I managed to catch the garter, so apparently I am the next one getting married. Which, given the current situation with myself & Jess, will be occurring within the next 5 or so years.
Another piece of interesting news is that I have received a very interesting e-mail which may result in a temporary re-location later this year, to a place I'm not particularly fond of, but will travel to anyway because of the opportunity presented to me there. More news in the coming few months.
Until then. |

| | John Butler Trio | ] | So I've decided to get my left ear pierced after the mid-year break. I have been toying with the idea since AGMF, and after discussions with Jess & Bryan on the subject, I figured why not - it'd look pretty cool and I reckon it'd suit as well. The only downside is that I need to have the same piece of bling in it for the first six weeks. Which is going to be frustrating, because after looking at the wide variety of bling-bling that you can get for ears, I know I want to chop and change.
I'll also finish the long-hair saga during the holidays, after Nick's wedding, plus change the colour of it as well. That, and a piercing - I'm going to look somewhat different in the space of a week or two.
--
The other piece of interesting news is that I managed to purchase a computer for $40. I intend on slowly upgrading it, starting with the case which I should get this week or next.
Expect results soon.

| | Fearscape, Project 86 | ] | With the assistance of the internet and other protocols, I have re-discovered a piece of my chilhood. That is, the piece that was taken up by the Sega Master System. I recall I used to be quite average at games like Transbot, Astro Warrior, Pit Pot, and quite awesome at games such as Zillion II, Teddy Boy, After Burner, and American Pro Football. Now, this is a complete reversal - I am issuing the pwnag3 at Transbot, Astro Warrior, Pit Pot and whatnot, and now, I am sucking the games I used to rock at.
What's up with that, mang?

I've got a job now at Supabarn - basically Canberra's answer to Bi-Lo. I'm starting as soon as I complete the induction process. So, hopefully next week

That's it - lack of updates mean that nothing else is really happening. So, deal with it, DAMON. |
